extrait d'une lettre d'un soldat du la 3rd DI en octobre 44
"I am getting along just fine. I'm not at the front at the present time. I haven't been doing much of anything the last few days.
... Received two letters from you the other day... You sound as though you don't trust me over here with these French dames. You believe too much in newspapers and pictures. Maybe these French dames do most anything for the American soldiers, I don't know. I'm sure it isn't the front line soldiers. They might do most anything for the rear echelon.
... Darling, you don't have to worry about me doing anything with these French dames, because I know you are waiting for me. I still love you as much as ever, or maybe even more, if that's possible. Honey, I just hope and pray that day isn't too far off when I can be back with you."
